Safety First: Privacy and Safety Online

Safety Online is one of our most popular and important classes. The Internet and all of technology is an unfamiliar world for many seniors and new users, but even savvy users can use a refresher now and then. This course will help you help your students learn to recognize danger signals and avoid phishing attempts and Internet scams.

This course begins with a discussion of antivirus software and firewalls, then how to read URLs and recognize secured (https) websites. Other topics include phishing, ID theft schemes, and email scams, a primer on effective passwords and how to use them, and scams that specifically target job seekers.
